NH Man Creates a Whole New Interior Design Aesthetic

Michael Jones works out of the Manchester Makerspace in New Hampshire and is known for his innovative approach to life, business and design.

The Army combat veteran is a civilian now and has been involved in several different startups since returning from Iraq. His latest creation may just be his most intriguing.

The idea for these decorative – and functional – corner protectors came about as Jones pushed the boundaries of his makerspace’s plasma cutter.

“You can see some out there in offices and hospitals. But they are plastic and not too attractive,” Jones said. “There was nothing out there that really adds to a room.”

He’s definitely right on both counts. You really wouldn’t want those in your home but the floral-like design of his creations adds an eye-popping accent to any room. It also follows in the grand tradition of the builders hardware offered by manufacturing powerhouse Yale and Towne, a company that employed much of the population of Stamford CT. This company made decorative fixtures for doors cabinets, bathrooms and furniture for the wealthy homeowners around the world.

Jones wasn’t satisfied with making a product that just looks good. He also built in functionality that makes more space available in the home. Embedded into the design are places to attach hooks to hang jackets, pocketbooks, etc.

There is no real trick to install these sturdy metal covering. In almost all cases, it just requires a couple of nails to hold each strip securely.

He currently has a couple of different designs and colors (black and white) but more are on the way…

Jpnes offers his products to the public via his MondoArtem Etsy site, where customers can purchase varying lengths.
